History of copper. Physical and mechanical properties.

Are you interested in copper history, physical and mechanical properties? The supplier Evek GmbH offers you to buy a wide range of copper products at an affordable price. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. The price is optimal.

History

Copper was first extracted from the sulfurous cauldron mined in the ancient Greek mines of Cyprus, hence its Latin name Cuprum. This metal is not a leader in the world in terms of occurrence, occupying only the 23rd place, however, the long period of its practical use by man, as well as a number of useful properties have led to a wide use of this metal, especially in the electrical industry.

M0 and M1 grades.

In accordance with GOST 869 copper rolling is produced in two grades - M0 and M1. The mandatory components of the metal are such chemical elements as bismuth, tin, arsenic, iron, nickel, lead, tin and zinc, as well as sulfur and oxygen. The total amount of impurities in M0 grade must not exceed 0.05%, while in M1 it must not exceed 0.1%.

The main physical properties

  • Melting point - 1084 °С;
  • Density at room temperature, g/cm3 - 8.89;
  • Thermal conductivity, W/kg K - 385;
  • Electric resistivity, μOhm/m - 0,01724;

Chemical resistance

Copper refers to the number of corrosion-resistant metals, interacting in a humid atmosphere only with a particularly strong oxidants: for example, the metal is dissolved in concentrated nitric acid. Supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy copper rolling of domestic and foreign production at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. The price is optimum.

Mechanical Properties

Copper rolled copper is well machined mechanically. However, the ductility and plasticity of copper causes the metal to stick to the cutting tool. When plastic deformation of the metal is intensively hardened, which leads to a decrease in the indicators of the relative elongation of copper by half when the metal reaches critical degrees of deformation.

Indicator deformed copper annealed copper
