Are you interested in annealing, hardening, heat treatment of bearing steels? The supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy bearing steels in any quantity at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. The price is optimal.

Relevance of hardening

Bearing steel should have higher values of contact strength, fatigue strength, wear resistance and hardness. Because of this, these steels, as a zeutectoidal steel, have low critical hardening rate values.

Hardening regimes

To form a thermally modified zone with high strength and performance indicators, the bearing steel is quenched in oil at temperatures of 800...850°C and then tempered at temperatures of 160...220°C for 1...2 hours to relieve internal stresses. When prescribing the regimes of hardening, it should be remembered that the eutectoid point of ball bearing steels is shifted on the "iron-carbon" diagram to the left by about 0,2...0,3 percent.

Hardness

After such a low tempering, the steel alloy acquires the hardness of 60...64 HRC. The microstructure of properly hardened bearing steel is a fine needle martensite on a background of uniformly distributed carbides. Hardening and machining

As the percentage of chromium in steel increases, its hardness and wear resistance should be higher. The greatest hardenability of all steel grades in this group is ShKh15SG. At the same time it should be remembered that all grades of bearing steels have unsatisfactory machinability by cutting and their machining is rather labour-intensive. After heat treatment of a bearing ring, its surface structure includes tempered martensite and carbides, and the internal volumes of the structure include pure martensite.

Special heat treatment regimes

Particular heat treatment regimes are valid for bearings exposed to aggressive environments such as seawater and aqueous or acid solutions. When these bearings are heated to temperatures of 450-500°C, they are heat-treated according to the regimes typical for high-speed steels. To reduce the growth of carbide grains is applied:

  1. Hardening with step heating at temperatures of 1000 ... 1050 ° C;
  2. Quenching in molten salts;
  3. Quenching in steam atmosphere.

Tempering after hardening is carried out at temperatures of 160 ... 210 ° C (smaller values correspond to less spacious products).
