Sequence of execution
Welding of bronze by argon is carried out on the reverse polarity of a direct current. For the homogeneity of the resulting weld, the electrode material must be of the same bronze grade as the parts to be joined. At the beginning of welding, the current density is set to the minimum permissible values (15… 20 A / mm 2), and then adjusted to 45… 50 A / mm 2. The use of AC welding is possible in principle, however it is not rational, because the current must be increased to 75… 80A due to the high duty cycle of the process. Only in this case it is possible to maintain the same parameters of the bronze welding performance.
Welding is carried out in one layer, moving the electrode over the surface with a slope of 15… 20 0 to the perpendicular of the surface, and making zigzag movements.
For bronze rolled products, when welding in argon, non-consumable tungsten electrodes can be used.
