What kind of welding to use?

Electric arc welding with tungsten non-consumable electrode (TIG process) under argon or - more rarely - helium is the most widespread method for making permanent joints of relaxation-resistant and heat-resistant steels. In mass and high-volume production, mechanized argon arc welding is used. The majority of relaxation-resistant and heat-resistant steels lend themselves well to welding. Specific type of welding is established taking into account overall dimensions and structural complexity of welded products.

Improvement of weld corrosion resistance

To increase resistance to corrosion of the joint in the area of the weld, a filler wire containing titanium is used. Welded joints made with the above mentioned features are resistant to all kinds of corrosion as well as to harmful effects of chemically aggressive liquid media and are fully functional at temperatures up to 700 ... 750°C. Evek GmbH offers to buy heat-resistant and relaxation-resistant steel at an affordable price in a wide range. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. The price is optimal.

Technological regimes

When welding with argon (in comparison with similar technologies, which use helium as shielding gas) it's necessary to use higher welding current and lower arc voltage. In this case, the flow of shielding gas decreases. Optimal modes of butt welding of workpieces made of relaxation-resistant and heat-resistant steels with thickness not more than 3 mm are considered:

  1. welding current 120...160 А;
  2. arc voltage 12...15 V;
  3. shielding gas flow rate 6...9 l/min.

When welding heat-resistant and relaxation-resistant steels of any grade, there is a risk of macro- and micro-cracks, as well as local imperfections in the weld area. Therefore, in many cases, welding modes are specified by experiment. Welding is carried out only after quenching. If this is technologically impossible, the hardening is carried out after welding, using heating to a temperature of 1060 ... 1200 ° C, followed by rapid cooling.
