Tu 48-21-686-80. Wire of chromel, alumel and kopel alloys for sensitive elements of high-stability thermocouples. Technical conditions.

Technical characteristics

The wire is made of chromel T alloys of NX9.5 grade, alumel of NMMZAK 2-2-1 grade and copel of MNMZ 43-0.5 grade according to Tu 48-21-686-80. According to the value of thermal EMF developed in tandem with platinum, the wire is divided into four classes. Wire diameter and its limit deviation shall be as specified below.

Alloy Wire diameter, mm Max. diameter deviation, mm
Chromel T 0,5 -0,05
0,7 -0,05
1,2 -0,06
1,5 -0,08
3,2 -0,10
Alumel 0,5 -0,05
0,7 -0,05

1,5 -0,08
3,2 -0,10
Kopel 0,5 -0,05

Quality

The ovality of the wire shall not exceed the limit diameter deviation. The surface must be clean, smooth, without films, cracks, delaminations, burrs, rolls, dents, scratches, marks. According to Tu 48-21-686-80, some surface defects are allowed, which are within the diameter limit deviation during control deburring.

Testing

Material shall withstand tensile, hydrostatic or non-destructive electrical tests. Material must meet the required mechanical properties - tensile strength, yield strength, and relative elongation.
