Qualities

20X23H13 (AISI 309) sheet, strip and foil is made from heat-resistant high-alloy steel of the austenitic-ferritic class and is designed for parts operating at high temperatures of 900-1000 ° C in a slightly loaded condition. In contrast to the austenitic steels, grade 20Х23Н13 is characterized by higher strength (almost twofold), greater resistance to intergranular corrosion and corrosion cracking in chloride media and alkalis, greater heat resistance and heat resistance than the austenitic steel. Thanks to chromium and nickel, their surface is capable of self-repair when damaged. The relatively small percentage of nickel in the composition increases resistance in environments containing sulfur. Sheet and strip are limited weldable, requiring preheating to 100-120°C with a final heat treatment.

Manufacturing

Sheet, strip and foil are produced in accordance with the following requirements: thick sheets - GOST: 7350-77, 19 903-74 and 19 904-74, thin sheets - GOST 5582-75 and 19 904-74. Tape - GOST 4405-75 and 103-76. The products consist of 22-25% Cr, 12-15% Ni, up to 2% Mn, 1% Si, up to 0.3% Cu, 0.2% Ti and carbon, thousandths of a percent phosphorus and sulfur.

At t° 1050-1080°C sheets, strips and foils are rolled from, heated to plastic state blanks. Subsequent hardening strengthens the mechanical properties, increases strength and hardness, but the ductility properties are lost. The higher the work hardening coefficient, the stronger the strip and sheet.

σB - short-term tensile strength;

σT - yield strength for permanent deformation.

d5 - relative elongation at break.

Each sheet undergoes several stages of production aimed at improving its qualities. The most important stage is considered to be the cooling process. New thick plate mills cool the plate by moving it with roller conveyors, conveyor belts and slappers. Older mills cool the finished product in stacks or shop plates. The sheets in the stacks undergo additional heat treatment - self-tempering - which makes them longer. Sheet and strip undergo accelerated cooling before impact toughness testing - the surface of the sheet is sprayed with water and blown with air. This increases strength at sub-zero temperatures.

Classification

Tape, sheet are classified according to the method of processing, type and quality of surface, type of edges and manufacturing accuracy.

Application

Band, sheet are used in the manufacture of various containers that are operated under high pressure in the construction, medical, food industry, chemical, petrochemical, shipbuilding industry. Sheet, strip or tube 20X23H13, can replace products of steel grades 309S, 309H, 309Cb, 309HCb, not inferior to their properties.
