Composition

Steel wire, rounds and bars of grade 20X25H20C2 are made from a complex alloy. The composition according to GOST 5632-72 is 24-27% Cr, 18-21% Ni, 2-3% Si. The alloy is alloyed with vanadium, tungsten, titanium and carbon - 0.2% each, manganese, molybdenum and copper - 0.3% each, thousandths of phosphorus. The remainder is iron. Because chromium and nickel are the major alloying elements, the steel is called chrome-nickel. The forging temperature is 1170 °C at the beginning and 850 °C at the end of the process. It is cooled in air.

Qualities

Heat resistance at, t° up to 1100 °C, corrosion resistance, including in oxidizing environments, aesthetic appeal. Such properties as high strength, wear resistance, allow the use of wire, round and bar as blanks for the production of critical parts that are used under high loads and temperatures. Thanks to nickel and chromium, the protective film on the surface of the parts quickly regenerates itself with minor damage. The disadvantage is that it is prone to temper embrittlement.

Manufacturing

Cuts and rods and wire 20X25H20C2 are produced by hot rolling and calibration, which involves after the standard processing of metal and cold rolling - drawing. Calibration is used to give the product an exact outer diameter. And after this procedure, if the design features of the future part require it, the factory reduces the surface roughness by grinding and polishing.

Application

Advantages of the alloy allow the use of wire, round and bars 20X25H20C2 as parts of high-temperature furnaces and a variety of fasteners, complex stainless steel structures. The wire is used for welding stainless steel with unalloyed or low-alloyed metals. Also it is used for bounding sub-layers at thermomechanical coating of various metal products with a layer of another metal (cladding) and for welding heat resistant austenitic steels (containing 25% Cr and 20% Ni) in argon medium. This wire is used for welding armor steels. The weld produced by such welding has extremely high resistance to high temperature, so the products can be used in power engineering, chemical and heavy engineering, petrochemical industry.
