Gas pipe copper

General Characteristics

In areas outdoors, copper gas pipes are of particular relevance. Thanks to their resistance to atmospheric moisture and condensation. Resistance to aggressive liquid and gas media makes them a priority in autonomous and centralized circulation systems. Copper pipes for gas are a safe and reliable element of gas communications. The primacy of copper pipelines in medium and low pressure gas pipeline systems today is undeniable. But in the domestic market there is a paradoxical situation. Formally recognizing the benefits of copper pipes, many prefer plastic or steel pipes, even despite a number of their disadvantages.

History

Communal services in the USSR were deprived of the opportunity to use copper pipes. After all, in the Soviet Union, copper was in demand in the defense industry, electrical engineering, nuclear power and shipbuilding. Moreover, reputable Soviet scientists argued that copper pipes in municipal systems were rapidly deteriorating and should not be used. There was a significant share of truth in this assertion, as the standards for the use of copper pipes for domestic water and gas supply systems were not developed at that time. Today the situation is fundamentally different. By forces of the International Consultative Forum in conjunction with the European Copper Institute developed for domestic producers and consumers, and came into force on November 1, 10 standards for the design, installation and operation of indoor gas supply systems using copper seamless pipes,

Advantages

Steel has high strength, but low ductility. With any significant displacement or deformation of the structure such pipes will simply burst. Plastic copper is devoid of such a disadvantage. Copper pipes are workable in the temperature range from -70° to +250° C. Copper pipes can withstand pressure of 200-400 atm. Because of its corrosion resistance, durability and harmlessness to health - copper pipe occupies a special place. Such pipe is very technologically advanced, extremely simple to install, easy to solder, bend, cut, drill, roll.

Mounting .

If wall thickness exceeds 1.5 mm, it is installed by gas (acetylene-oxygen burner) or electric welding under inert gas cover with a fusing electrode. Thinner pipes are joined by capillary soldering. Very convenient method especially for small diameter pipes is the use of press fittings.
