Composition and properties

AISI 430Nb (1.4511) low carbon stainless steel favorably features the presence of niobium in its composition. It is produced in accordance with North American ASTM standards, European Union UNS standards and technical requirements of State Standard 5632.

Rolled steel is produced both in cold and hot condition (the latter method is used for rolling with thickness of 20 ... 200 mm). The product range of sheet length is 2000 ... 6000 mm. Flat sheets and strips with the width of 915...1524 mm are produced in cold condition. At the customer's request the rolled products may undergo preliminary annealing. After annealing, the steel structure evens out and becomes more fine-grained, which has a positive effect on workability. In this condition, AISI 430Nb (1.4511) can be subjected to deep drawing and bending. Punching-embossing is performed without metal chipping and tearing, and sequential deformation of metal in the strip on automated equipment is possible.

Steel can be delivered to the client after high-temperature annealing, which consists in heating of rolled sheet to the temperature of 750-8500 C, followed by slow cooling. The steel AISI 430Nb (1.4511) cannot be normalized.

The European analogue of this steel is alloy X3CrNb17, which has slightly higher tolerance of carbon content: not more than 0.03%. The nearest domestic analogue of this steel is considered to be 0Х17Н5Г9АБ heat-resistant alloy which is produced under special TU of the enterprise. Chemical composition of the alloy:

Application

AISI 430Nb (1.4511) has an increased long term heat resistance as a result of its alloy niobium content. That's why sheet parts made of this steel are installed in measuring and control units of equipment, sensors and other technological units, which are operated in aggressive chemical environments, and at elevated temperatures. Stiffness and chemical homogeneity of the surface of sheet and strip products are maintained at temperatures up to 450...5000 C.

The sphere of practical application of the domestic analogue - alloy 0Х17Н5Г9АБ - is a bit wider, owing to its increased plasticity and the possibility to stamp more complicated contours. At the same time the production cost of alloy 0Х17Н5Г9АБ significantly higher than steel AISI 430Nb (1.4511).
