Description

Babbit B16 is used: for the manufacture of ingots used to fill the bearings and other components; motor-axial bearings of locomotives, track machines, parts of locomotives and other equipment heavy machinery (bearings, gear train, rolling mill, crushers, ball and tube mills); the engine and metallurgical engineering (to fill the support bearings of steam turbines, ship and stationary steam engines power up to 1200 HP, steam engines, turbines, electric locomotives, motors up to 270 kW., generators up to 500 kW., compressors with capacity of 500 HP, lifting machines with power up to 1800 HP

Note

At room temperature babbit fragile, in bearings under shock loads will crack and crumble.
The coefficient of friction of the babbit without lubrication of 0.25, with lubricant — 0,006. The maximum allowable rotation speed is 6 m/sec. Maximum load rating: static — 150 kgf/cm2, dynamic — 500 kgf/cm2 sec. The maximum temperature of normal bearing operation — +110 °C. recommended fill thickness ≥1.00 mm.

The total content of impurities by OST 24.916.01-71 should be ≤ 0.60%. Cadmium is allowed up to 0.10% and nickel to 0.50%.
