JV «Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten»: the construction of GOK postponed

As reported by the Russian Information Agency «Novosti», Uzbek-Korean joint venture «Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten» postponed the planned construction of GOK (mining and processing complex) on a tungsten deposit Sautbay (Navoi region) up to 2015. In 2014, the company management decided to conduct zaverochnyh and evaluation stages of the resource base of the «Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten», the project itself will be created in accordance with the outcome obtained in the second half.

In that case, if the feasibility study after the preliminary assessment is approved, it will be possible to begin construction, which will be in 2015, although the earlier representatives of the company determined the initial stage of construction at the beginning of 2014. Constituent documents of the joint venture «Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten» were signed by South Korean company «Shindong Resources» Goskomgeo and Uzbekistan in the summer of 2013.

The project cost is 145 million USDi involves construction of GOK (mining and processing plant), which has a capacity of 1.5 thous. tons of tungsten concentrate highly. Construction of the plant is planned to be carried out simultaneously with the opening of Sautbay. In addition to this field in the framework of the joint venture will also include areas Burgut Sagynkan and where before the end of the year 20,132 planned completion zaverochnyh work. Financing rukovodzhstvo project expects to produce due to investments co-founders of «Uzbekistan-Korea Tungsten» as well as through loans from international financial institutions.

According to data provided Goskomgeo Uzbekistan, industrial resources fields Sautbay apply to C1, and are about 4 million tons of ore containing tungsten trioxide, the amount of which is equal to 19 900 tonnes.

Almost simultaneously with the beginning of the development of this project has started construction of a new block of the Navoi Mining Institute, designed for 2,000 pupils. The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held to determine the general design of the organization «Tashgiprogor», as the general contractor performs management Zarafshan, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine is the customer. Implementation of this project will be carried out from 2013 to 2015 and will enable the training of highly qualified specialists for the mining and metallurgical fields.
