Imports of steel decreases, imports of finished products is growing

According to experts AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute), the August figures on steel imports is 3.554 million tons. This figure is 8% lower than the results of last month, when the July turnover reached the level of 3.856 million tons. However, the import of finished products in August compared with July results indicate a significant increase in performance — increase in imports of rebar amounted to 240%, line pipe up to 11%, the standard rail to 31%. Significantly decreased import tonnage of finished steel — its August volume amounted to 2.681 million tons, compared with the July figure below 12%. For the period January-August this year, the volume of total imports amounted to 28.494 million tons of finished steel imports — 21.316 million tons. These data are the results of the above same period last year by 35% and 29%, respectively. The August imports of the rental market was 26%.

For the period January-August 2014 compared to the same period of 2013 swept a significant increase in imports of the following products: rod (imports increased to 80%), plates in coils (an increase of up to 81%), plates (up to 56%), cold rolled sheets (an increase of up to 72%), strips and sheets of metal coatings (growth of about 52%), strips and sheets, galvanized (growth of about 54%). The largest exporters in August of this year can be regarded as South Korea, despite a decline in shipments of 22% compared to July who had put 438,000 tons of products; China — with a decrease of 9% of deliveries amounted to 245 000 tonnes; Japan — grew by 5%, the export of 209 000 tonnes; Taiwan — 21% with an increase in exports was 128 000 tonnes; Turkey — an increase of the order of 66% to 219 000 tons.

According to the latest data provided by AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute), in July this year, the volume of steel goods rose by 2.4% compared to June figures. Compared with the same period last year July, an increase of 2.6%. Shipments from US steel mills in July to mark the production to 8,291,823 tonnes compared to the previous month increased by 2.4%, which amounted to 8,492,744 tons. Compared with the results of July 2013 at the level of 8,274,511 tons increased by 2.6% in July of this year, shipments of steel products. For the period January-July, the volume of delivered steel compared to the same period last year increased by 2.9% to 57.270 mln. Tons against 55.676 million tonnes.
