Smelting of ore concentrate

Smelting of ore concentrate is carried out in electric furnaces with a controlled protective atmosphere. The smelter, which is preheated to the required temperature under pressure, is automatically fed with feedstock. Oxygen is used as a source of additional pressure. In the process of combustion, the crushed concentrate melts and forms a viscous mixture, which under the action of its own weight gradually accumulates on the furnace bed. To increase the service life of the melting unit, it is made of heat-resistant stainless steel, and the top is lined with refractory materials. Air is blown through the melt under high pressure. The result is an intensive oxidation of high-temperature salts, and rough copper is formed at the bottom of the melting tank.

The "copper" smelting phase.

Since the main components of these alloys are copper and zinc, in practice, a two-stage production technology is adopted, when first pure copper is smelted and then the necessary amount of zinc is added to the melt as an alloying component. Initial ore also contains a number of unavoidable impurities (antimony, arsenic) and non-metallic impurities (hydrocarbonates, oxides, sulfides , etc.). Supplier Evek GmbH offers to buy brass rolled products of domestic and foreign production at reasonable price in wide assortment. We provide delivery of products to any point of the continent. Price is optimal.

Alloying

Released copper is purified by electrolytes, after which zinc and other components of the brass alloy, such as iron, aluminum, tin, and manganese are introduced into the melt in portions. As the percentage of zinc decreases, brass alloys become more ductile. Introduction of aluminum and iron into the melt causes reduction of brass density and increase of plastic properties. Silicon gives the brass alloy hardness and elasticity, and nickel gives it durability during subsequent operation at elevated temperatures. Tin increases the antiwear properties of brass.

Oxides

The finished brass semi-finished product is covered with a layer of high-temperature oxides, which are immediately removed by treatment in a nitric acid solution. This is followed by surface polishing of the alloy.
