Characteristics

Grade 03X20H16AG6 refers to manganese-chromium-nickel austenitic steels. It is melted in electric arc furnaces. It is produced in accordance with TU 14-1-3291-81 and 14-1-2922-80. This steel is used in cryogenic engineering in the manufacture of welded large containers that are kept under pressure for a long time at periodic change of tº from 20 ° C to -250 ° C.

Physical properties at 20°C

The density is 7.8 g/cm3; specific heat capacity 481 J/(kg - K); modulus of elasticity 19.6x10-4 N/mm2; temperature coefficient of linear expansion α = 16,1x10-6/°C. Thermal conductivity at 100°C = 17.5 W/(m - K);

Corrosion resistance

In the hardened state, steel is characterized by resistance to corrosion, not only in weakly acidic media, but also in moderately acidic ones, as well as in industrial condensate. In solution of 15-55% HNO3 its resistance is similar to X18H10 steel.

Technological parameters

Hot deformation is carried out at t° 1200-900°C. The steel is easily stamped, both in hot and cold states. Due to its tendency to strain-hardening, more force is needed for cold forging.

Welding

Steel is welded by manual or automatic submerged-arc welding or by automatic argon arc welding. Heat treatment of welds is not required.
