General Characteristics

The basis of non-magnetic heat-resistant alloy 79H is a solid solution of nickel containing 78-81% Ni. The rest part is iron, alloyed with chrome, copper, cobalt. It is smelted in an induction furnace under neutral gas protection. Low magnetic resistivity determines the area of application of this alloy in high-precision mechanical devices, industrial sensors working in alternating magnetic field and complicated aggressive conditions.

Application

Wires, rounds and bars of 79NM steel grade are among the most popular rolled products. They are widely used for parts of magnetic circuits operating at high values of induction with insignificant submagnetization, in constructions of high-temperature installations operated for a long time at t° up to 850 °C. Above this, the process of active scale formation begins. Another application of this steel is the production of springs, disks capable of functioning at temperatures below 650oC. This steel is rather difficult to weld, so a final annealing and heat treatment is carried out to strengthen the seam.
