Composition and properties
Low-magnetic austenitic stainless steel AISI 317 LMn differs from the closest analogue high content of manganese, which ensures to produce products of increased mechanical strength. Chemical composition of steel in different countries is somewhat different, as reflected in the following table:
It should be noted that under existing in Russia T. U. production of accurate analogue of the considered alloy is not conducted, and the table presents information that corresponds to the closest in composition and properties to grade 03Х17Н13АМ3. In the US, alloy 317 LMn produced according to the norms ASTM/ASME UNS S31726, and in Europe — according to standards DIN.
Distinctive operational properties of steel are:
1.High wear resistance in conditions of high temperature corrosion in the presence of oxygen and in concentrated acidic environments.
2.Increased resistance to oxidative processes that occur at temperatures up to 850…9000 C and at a relative humidity of 100%.
3.Stability of the geometrical dimensions of the parts to temperatures of 1150…12000 C.
4.Heat treatment of the material with the purpose of increasing its strength characteristics is impractical, because steel-hardened and won’t budge.
Due to the high content of manganese the hardness of the cold rolled steel is not less than 96НRC that should be taken into account when machining.
The use of
Alloy AISI 317 LMn (1.4439) lends itself well to hot sheet stamping, the optimal heating temperature of the billet should not exceed 450…5000 C. In this sotonyi deformation on the falling hammers from this steel it is possible to obtain various thin-walled parts such as bodies of rotation, to perform spatial bending. The separation operation can be performed in cold condition. When welding steel slightly increases their magnetic properties.
Given the high anti-corrosion properties of the steel AISI 317 LMn (1.4439), it is recommended to particularly critical parts of the machine housings in the food, chemical, oil and gas industries, working in conditions of high mechanical loads.
