Properties and applications
The considered steel is designed for use in heavy-gauge exterior steel structures, which can occur at low temperatures down to -700 C. Steel P296GH, in addition, used in the manufacture of body parts of water heaters and major blood vessels, working under excessive pressure. Steel of this type is partially welded, and hot stamping and forging must be performed in the temperature range from 850 to 11500 C.
The main physical and mechanical parameters of steels are:
- Limit strength — 450…460 MPa;
- The plastic limit is 325…335 MPa;
- Fatigue limit in alternating loads — 340 MPa;
- Relative tensile elongation — 21%;
- Impact strength — 30…35 kJ/m2.
