Chemical Composition

Siliceous-manganese steel of domestic production of 17G1S grade belongs to the group of low-alloy steels of the 3rd class, which are used for manufacturing of building welded steel structures. The requirements to steel composition are regulated by GOST 19281 and GOST 5520:

Component C Si Mn Ni Cr Cu Fs
Percentage content in steel 0,15...0,20 0,40...0,60 1,15...1,60 Maximum 0.30 Maximum 0.30 Not more than 0.30 Not more than 0.08

In the steel 17G1S contains free and bound nitrogen, whose amount should not exceed 0.008%. There are metallurgical impurities - phosphorus (not more than 0.035%) and sulfur (not more than 0.04%.).

According to foreign classification, analogues of this steel belong to the group of construction steels. These include grades S355J2G3 and 1.0570. S355J2G3 steel is produced in accordance with European standards EN 10025 and DIN 17100. The equivalent 1.0570 grade of steel is produced in the USA, and its chemical composition complies with the table below:

Component C Si Mn S P
Percentage content in steel Not more than 0,20...0,22 Not more than 0.55 Maximum 1.60 Maximum 0.040 Not more than 0.040

Evek GmbH offers to buy sheets, strips and wires made of 17G1S, S355J2G3 and 1.0570 low-alloy structural steels. The supplier guarantees economically advantageous price from the manufacturer. Prompt product delivery to the location specified by the customer is ensured.

Properties and application

Low-alloy siliceous-manganese steel grades 17G1S, S355J2G3 and 1.0570 are used for installation of pipelines, exploitation of which is characterized by significant temperature differentials (-400... +4700 C) and high internal pressure. The steels under consideration are well welded, are not prone to temper embrittlement and lend themselves well to cold forging separating and forming operations.

The main physical and mechanical characteristics of the steels:

  • Tensile strength - 500...680 MPa;
  • yield strength - 335...355 MPa;
  • Relative elongation - 20...22%;
  • Impact toughness - not less than 27 kJ/m2.

Buy sheet, strip and wire of low-alloy structural steel 17G1S, S355J2G3, 1.0570 offers the company Evek GmbH. The supplier provides a favorable price for the purchased products, and ensures timely delivery to the address specified by the customer.
