Chemical Composition

CIS low-carbon structural steel 12ХН3А grade is produced according to technical requirements of GOST 4543. Its peculiarity is increased content of nickel which makes the steel more ductile. Chemical composition of the steel is given in the table below:

Properties and application

Structural alloy steels in these grades correspond to the group of steels subjected to different carburizing regimes. This provides for a better performance index. The final structure consists of a carbide and nitride-rich surface layer in combination with a yoke and a laminated core. After quenching and subsequent tempering, the steels acquire the following mechanical characteristics:

  • Tensile strength - 950 MPa;
  • Ultimate ductility - 700 MPa;
  • Relative elongation - 12%;
  • Relative narrowing - 55%;
  • Tensile strength - not less than 1100 kJ/m2.

Rolled sheets of 12XN3A, 14NiCr14, 12hn3a steel are well processed on machine tools and forging equipment, but welding should be performed under a layer of flux. Typical products made from these steels are parts of machine bodies and mechanisms, which are operated under the simultaneous influence of abrasive particles and noticeable bending stresses.
