Composition and properties
Heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant steel of AISI 410L (1.4003) in AISI terminology refers to materials that have a significantly reduced carbon content. Such steels belong to steels of a ferritic class and are characterized by high plastic indexes. This is explained by the complete absence of iron carbides in the microstructure, which increase the hardness. In accordance with the current European standards UNS S40977 and S41003, the composition of the steel in question includes the following alloying elements:

Depending on the type of technological process of steel smelting, it also contains metallurgical impurities — sulfur and phosphorus. The amount of sulfur can not be more than 0.02%, and phosphorus — 0.04%. In conventional melting, the steel AISI 410L (1.4003) includes up to 0.3% of the nitrogen contained in the initial microstructure in the bound state (chromium nitrides). If this steel is smelted in electric arc furnaces, as well as in vacuum-arc remelting facilities, there are no nitrides in the steel composition.
