Composition and properties

Incoloy 825® - 2.4858 is a nickel alloy that also contains iron, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, manganese and titanium. The percentage content of the main components does not practically differ by the main producing countries. The nearest domestic analogue of the alloy is KhN40MDTU produced in accordance with specification 14-1-4042-85. The main supply of the alloy is also carried out by companies from the United States, China, Britain, Japan and Korea.

The chemical composition of the alloy is fully adapted to the harsh operating conditions, which are expressed in an intensive wear of moving parts of equipment at elevated temperatures and pressures. At the same time, nickel ensures the absence of corrosive damage to the material, the intensity of which increases in the environment containing chlorine ions. In combination with copper and molybdenum, nickel also enhances the acid resistance characteristics of products (particularly against sulfuric and orthophosphoric acids). Molybdenum also increases resistance to pitting and chromium increases resistance to high-temperature oxidation. In turn, titanium gives products increased mechanical resistance at elevated temperatures and limits intergranular corrosion.

Stability of values of main physical and mechanical properties of incoloy 825® - 2.4858 alloy is maintained up to temperatures from - 180...-1900 С to 870...9600 С. This applies to the values of specific elongation, thermal conductivity and electrical resistance.

Application

Volumetric rolled tubes, wires and hot-rolled bars made of Incoloy alloy 825® - 2.4858 are used for the manufacture of parts such as heat exchangers for facilities operating under conditions of rapid temperature changes. Rolled tubular bars made of the alloy in question are used in units of high-temperature cracking of petroleum products, as well as in pipelines that are designed for pumping aggressive media.

Although no significant strengthening occurs in the pressure treatment process, it is recommended that the rolled steel be annealed before machining to facilitate form change. The alloy is well processed by cutting, and welding of parts made of Incoloy 825® - 2.4858 is usually carried out with a non-consumable electrode in a shielding gas environment.

To buy bulk rolled metal of this alloy means to provide high wear resistance of working parts of equipment operating in adverse environmental conditions. The offered products are certified according to the requirements of ISO 15156 standard.
