Composition and properties
The Incoloy 825® — 2.4858 alloy is a nickel alloy, which also includes iron, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, manganese and titanium. The percentage of major components in major producing countries is practically no different. The closest domestic analogue of this alloy is the material ХН40МДТЮ, produced in accordance with the technical specifications 14−1-4042−85. The chemical composition of the alloy is fully adapted to the severe operating conditions, which are expressed in the intensive wear of moving parts of equipment at elevated temperatures and pressures. In this case, nickel ensures the absence of corrosive destruction of the material, the intensity of which increases in a medium containing chlorine ions. In combination with copper and molybdenum, nickel also contributes to an increase in the characteristics of acid resistance of products (especially from sulfuric and orthophosphoric acids). Molybdenum, in addition, increases resistance to pitting corrosion, chromium — against high-temperature oxidation. In turn, titanium gives the products increased mechanical stability at elevated temperatures and limits intergranular corrosion.
The stability of the values of the basic physico-mechanical properties of the alloy Incoloy 825®-2.4858 is maintained up to temperatures from-180… -190 0 С to 870… 960 0 С. This concerns the indices of the specific elongation, thermal conductivity and electrical resistance.
The bulk rolling of pipes, wire and hot-rolled bar from Incoloy 825® — 2.4858 alloy is used for the manufacture of parts such as heat exchangers for installations operating under abrupt temperature changes. Pipe rolling from the alloy in question finds application in high-temperature cracking units of petroleum products, as well as in pipelines that are intended for pumping aggressive media.
Although there is no significant hardening during the pressure treatment, it is recommended to anneal the sheet before processing to facilitate the shaping of the rolling. The alloy is well processed by cutting, and the welding of parts made of Incoloy 825® — 2.4858 is usually produced by a non-consumable electrode in a protective gas environment.
