AISI 410 grade

It is a classical martensitic stainless steel which is hardened by heat treatment. It is characterized by high wear resistance, ductility, impact toughness, corrosion resistance, heat resistance.

In the plastic (annealed) state of supply the structure of this steel is a mixture of carbide and ferrite phases. When heated to 960-1020°C and then quenched (in air or in oil) martensite is formed, whose hardness is directly proportional to the carbon content. The chromium carbides that are formed further harden the steel's structure, increasing its wear resistance and hardness.

Characteristics at elevated temperature.

AISI 410 steel has good descaling resistance up to 700 °C.

Application

- Boiler and turbine parts;

- Filters, separators and heat shields;

- Cutting tools, piston rods, springs, carburettor needles and other parts, which are wear-resistant up to 450°C in mildly aggressive media;

- wear-resistant gaskets, fasteners;

- cutting tools.

This steel is analogue of 30X13 grade. Its application is regulated by GOST 5632: "Parts of high plasticity resistant to impact loads, as well as products which are exposed to slightly aggressive media (water solutions of salts, organic acids, precipitation), steam turbine blades, valves, pipes and bolts". This steel, unlike nickel-containing grades (according to GOST 5632) is stable in sulfur-containing media. In accordance with GOST 5632-- - - - - - the highest corrosion resistance is achieved after quenching with tempering, as well as polishing. Stainless steel with the same properties - 40X13 is used in processing and food industries. GOST 27 002 regulates the production of lids and housings of crockery made of 30X13, 08X13, etc. Martensitic type steels AISI 410 can be used in direct contact with foodstuffs, for example in the wine industry, in contact with cognac alcohol, wine and mash. AISI 410 steel is in high demand by foodstuff producers (raw materials hygienic treatment, separation, mixing, sorting, crushing, packing, thermal treatment and transport).

Welding

All methods of welding. Arc welding in an inert gas atmosphere requires minimal energy costs. Welded surface is located below the welding tool. Wire Sv-07h25N13, 309L, Sv-08h25N13BTu is used as an additive material. Electrodes or wire with AISI 410 base can be used. To ensure the corrosion resistance of the weld should remove scale, process discoloration by etching or brushes of stainless steel and passivate cold 10-20% HNO3 solution. Then a second washing and drying is necessary.
